Alternative Cough Medicine for Babies Project

Postby rmlaffite on Fri Feb 19, 2010 9:44 pm

Hi Everyone, my name is Renee Laffite, I'm a student in Loyola University. My purpose for joining this website is to seek help. As an marketing assignment, I want to design a "gerber" product that will act as an alternative to cough syrup or pills for newborns and fully grown babies. This product will contain medical ingredients to fight the sickness without put your baby through ingesting disgusting medicine. The effectiveness of the "gerber" will be just like taking a cough medicine, however the baby will also receive vitamins, and proteins they need to grow. Please let me know what you think of my project and give me suggestions. My primary concern is what you think of my product and what you expect out of it. Please identify your current status and "lifestyle" if you don't mind. Thank you for your time.

We try to fight cold as natural as possible, hoping to not resort to allopathic treatments.

So I would say, that your product should include herb extracts or dry herbs for baby cough.

I have some herbs always at hand and they have saved the day many times like Sage, Coltsfoot (which I discovered last fall and I am very pleased with), Echinacea, Peppermint.

We drink prophylactically Chamomile, Marigold, Lime tea.

Also, I wrote an article about the herbs that I use for baby coughing at http://www.self-healing-herbs.com/baby-coughing.html

I hope this is helpful.

The emergency solution when my daughter starts to cough in the middle of the night is heated coarse salt. It's a salt without iodine which I use for brine.

After I heat the salt, I wrap it in a cloth and I put it on her chest, over her blanket. When it warms up too much, I move the cloth to her back and so on until it completely cools. It usually takes about 10-15 minutes, during which time the cough has already passed.

I also give her a warm herbal tea for her throat.

This is a folk medicine advice I learned from my mother.
